With high level of reserve and settlement authority and under limited supervision and mentoring, manage an assigned caseload of indemnity and longer-term medical claims in accordance with Montana workers’ compensation laws. Investigates requests for re-opening claims of reported injury or occupational disease, evaluates, negotiates and settles claims in accordance with Claim Best Practices. Authorizes payment of medical and wage loss benefits. Assigns, directs and monitors rehabilitation and medical case management based on Old Fund Law and for longer-term medical cases. Sets and recommends reserves accordingly. Responds to inquiries and participates in claims review meetings with injured employees, medical providers and claims attorneys. Conducts on-site field visits with injured workers, permanently disabled workers and medical providers, and/or retain vendor to do same, and provide a report. Occasional travel required.

Education and Experience: Requires a bachelor’s degree plus 2 years workers’ compensation indemnity work experience or High School/GED plus 4 years insurance work experience and an additional 2 years workers’ compensation indemnity work, with a focus on longer term medical cases preferred. Knowledge of Old Fund Law and relevant designations and certifications preferred.
