1. Contributes as an audit team member to provide an independent, objective audit assurance and consulting activity to the College of Southern Nevada.
2. Uses analytical skills to determine the adequacy, reliability and integrity of accounting, operating, and reporting internal controls. Improves those skills through self-training and experience.
3. Reaches preliminary conclusions at to whether activities are in compliance with established policies, plans, procedures and goals, contractual obligations, state and federal laws and regulations, and sound business practices.
4. Assists in determining whether the College has effective internal operating and financial controls in place to safeguard its assets and, as appropriate, verification of the existence of such assets.
5. Recommends appropriate improvements in internal controls, operations, practices, and procedures in order to improve effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance procedures.
6. Communicates to convey audit findings through written and oral communications. Communicates with the audit clients to ensure awareness of concerns that might arise during the audit process.
7. Completes a training program to prepare workpapers that meet standards established for CSN internal audit, the Institute of Internal Auditors, and that support audit conclusions and recommendations.
8. Prepares draft audit reports, segments of audit reports, memorandums and other products for signature by the lead internal auditor.
9. Assists in the conduct of special examinations at the request of management.
10. Participates on consultative committees, in workshops, or forums convened to address college-wide issues.
11. Contributes to the development and maintenance of a professional Internal Audit Department by offering research, suggestions to support conduct of audit evaluations, and reviews of written drafts.
12. Assists the Internal Audit / Compliance Manager in the development, preparation and review of audit strategies and audit programs that reflect the audit strategy.
13. Assists with the training and development of the internal audit staff.
14. Actively fosters the maintenance of a harmonious teamwork environment that maximizes team effectiveness, the focus on team-based goals, co-operation and achievement.
15. Performs other duties as requested by management.
