This motor served me flawlessly up until last year. I was in Whittier and the engine started loosing power. Seas were high so I turned around and motored back. Right before I got there it started smoking and I could smell raw fuel. I tried to restart without luck. The dealer told me a new "power head" is $3500, labor (to even look at it) was $95/hr, and nada average retail for the engine is $2900. I paid over 10 grand for this engine! I don't have time to deal with this stuff and letting the dealer rebuild it doesn't make financial sense. Worst case scenario I'm sure it's worth $950 in parts.
