We are about half way, between seeing the hot flowing lava, where it enters the ocean, and going to Volcano Park itself, where the caldera, museum, lava tube, hiking trails, Chain of Craters Road, and all are. Private 1st story room, bath and entry. Cable TV & wireless internet, unlimited phone calling to mainland; outdoor BBQ, kitchen, & laundry. We have a budding Palm Farm, Flower Gardens & Fruit Trees, to enjoy and share. (just let me know if you have an urge to pull a few weeds, everything grows well, here) Old fashioned Hawaiian Country living, on the Old Volcano Trail. Easy 20 minute drive to Hilo, Volcano or Pahoa, on paved road, near hwy 11. Ideally, centrally located for seeing all the sites on the green side of the Big Isle, or for house & property hunting, on the rainy, east side of Hawaii, the only place property is still affordable in Hawaii. We offer 2 separate, 1st story, guest rooms, each with a bedroom & front living/sitting room, a private bathroom, with shower; and coffee maker. Each room has 2 separate entries. We have our own separate living area, upstairs; but, we are usually outside, during the day, or out back in the shade house or potting shed. Like regular old farmers, we wake up before the sun, and are in bed as soon as it goes down; so the whole downstairs is yours to cook dinner, or just hang-out. Common carport has table & chairs, washer & dryer. The kitchen, with sink, fridge, microwave, toaster oven, and BBQ, and another table with chairs, to hang out at, in the shade, are at the back of the carport. Coffee (in the room), Electricity, Cable TV, high speed wireless internet are included. We are on 3 acres of Hawaiian farmland. Enjoy the flower & fruit garden, play horsehoes, or talk about Harleys; when your not off to the tide pool, with our loaner snorkel gear & body boards. It is an easy drive up to, and around, the Volcano. The Black Sands Beach is further to the south, for a relaxing rest spot & picnic. Hilo is a quick drive, to see museums, waterfalls, flea market, and shopping, then up the beautiful Hamakua coast, to see more waterfalls, gardens, and awesome scenic views; or head up to Mauna Kea, see the stars, where it is winter in Hawaii, all the time. Turn the other way down the road, and, if it is Sunday, the Maku'u farmers market is the place to browse, then 10 minutes to the old fashioned hippie town of Pahoa; drive the scenic Kalapana-Kapoho loop, see the lava flow, hot ponds, tide pools, see if the dolphins are in at Kehena Beach, or, on Sunday drummers hit the beach. Take a picnic lunch, and pick a private spot, by the ocean, under big, shady trees. It is a two hour drive to just about anywhere on the island. We will direct you to what you want too see, and do, or describe the various, diverse areas of the island, for site-seeing, or property searches.
