Marylhurst Early Childhood Center Director Marylhurst Early Childhood Center (MECC) believes that children are naturally curious, intrinsically imaginative, and thrive when learning is active and meaningful. Teachers are inspired by children to create active enriching environments that foster kindness, intellectual growth, and the joy of discovery. MECC supports the development of a community that celebrates the unique contributions of our families, our school, and each individual child. Established in 1972, MECC is a private, non-profit preschool located in Oregon City, Oregon and housed in the historic Barclay School building. Recognized for excellence in early childhood education, MECC and its 19 member faculty and staff, serves over 170 children from 24 months to kindergarten age each year. MECC is currently seeking a Director. Responsibilities include: • Hiring, managing and mentoring faculty and staff • Overseeing the development of age appropriate curriculum • Managing the day to day operations of the school • Preparing and managing the annual budget • Collaborating with board members on strategic planning, fundraising, marketing, public relations, and community needs • Effectively communicating and building relationships with faculty, staff, parents, board members and the community at large Qualifications include: • Bachelor's Degree required in Early Childhood Education or the equivalent, Master’s Degree preferred • Knowledge of current child development and age appropriate practices • Five or more years of successful management and leadership experience, preferably working with a non-profit education organization • Experience with hiring, motivating, and mentoring staff and faculty • Knowledge of accreditation, certifications and licensing • Ability to support and develop professional relationships within the community that complement and support the mission of the school • Ability to represent the School to families, donors and the community • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Grant writing and fundraising experience preferred To learn more about MECC, please visit www.meccenter.org.
