We are currently looking for two contract paralegals to assist with ongoing litigation. Each candidate should be an experienced paralegal, preferably with a strong educational background including law school, with strong case-management/organizational skills, experience with electronically stored information and ESI discovery, and legal research and writing skills. It would be beneficial if the candidate also has experience with testing accommodations, and learning disabilities issues, although those are not prerequisites for the position. The candidate will be expected to provide the customary types of support, including but not limited to the following tasks. Assisting with the coordination of the document control system, including organization and management of electronically stored information as well as preparing, retrieving and copying pleadings, discovery documents and source files. Assisting attorneys with preparation for litigation, including discovery, pre-trial conferences, hearings, and trial. Assisting with scheduling and logistical support for discovery, including arranging and coordinating travel for attorneys and witnesses as needed, and scheduling and coordinating court reporters or other needed support persons for depositions or other case-related matters. Monitoring all litigation deadlines, and becoming familiar with local court rules in addition to applicable federal rules of procedure and evidence. Assisting in research and briefing, including drafting, editing, cite checking, reviewing documents for Blue Book compliance, and other related tasks. Assisting-in review of discovery material and documents in our possession and others yet to be turned over by defendants, to evaluate which may be helpful or harmful to our litigation position. In addition, the paralegal is expected to assist in identifying, compiling, and producing material responsive to discovery requests. The paralegal will also assist in ESI preparation of discovery materials, including issue-coding and other ESI software management tasks. The attorneys expect to use the following case management software throughout this case: CaseMap and Summation. Travel may be required. Location: Washington DC This is a contract job.
