I will have a room available for rent after this weekend (and preferably by August 1st) in a 3 bedroom, 1 bath (circa 1890) townhouse. Location: Less-than-10-minute walk from Potomac Ave metro, about a ten minutes walk from Eastern Market. Very close to 2 grocery stores, Lincoln Park, beautiful tree-lined neighborhood. Easy street parking. I sometimes walk home late from metro and feel very safe. House has: Washer/dryer, basement for storage, large kitchen, dining room/office, good-size living room, porches, front and back yards, original hardwood floors. The house is mostly furnished, but could fit a few more pieces and your own bedroom furniture. A/C is window units only, but that's been pretty sufficient, and I have one for the available room already. The house is good for small get-togethers or backyard BBQs. There is a small garden and compost area in the backyard. The available bedroom has its own small balcony facing the backyard and lots of closet space. Shared bathroom has plenty of space and is immediately next to bedroom. Why is the room available? Any other roommates? My newly-ex-boyfriend (mutual agreement amicable break-up) is moving out this weekend. I am staying in the townhouse we've been renting together. The third bedroom is rented by a female who lives in MD and only very occasionally (about 1 night/mo) stays in the city, sometimes with her husband. Both are very cool people who I always enjoy talking with when they're in, and the third bedroom can be used for guests the rest of the time. Rent and lease: The rent for each bedroom is currently about $700/month plus utilities, which usually run less than $100/person for everything (including internet but not cable/satellite). You would replace my boyfriend on the current lease, which runs through October 31st, then can be renewed for another year. About me: I'm 27, female, and have one lazy indoor cat. I work for a local tech company that supports non-profit organizations and have lived in the house for 4 1/2 years. Despite my recent relationship adjustment, I am generally stable and laid-back. I enjoy watching dance shows or dramas on TV, going out dancing, reading, and just hanging out with friends. I keep the place reasonably clean and neat, but am probably not the ideal roommate for someone who is obsessively neat. I'm fairly quiet, but sometimes like to listen to music or have a few friends over. I like talking politics (if you're moderate/liberal, if not, we don't have to talk politics :) I like to buy recycled products, use as few disposable goods as possible, and be energy-efficient. I'd like to become friends with and hang out with my roommate, but I have my own friends as well. About you: I would prefer a female roommate close to my own age, but have lived with a male before and would be open to any age group. (but no couples, just one individual). Would prefer a non-smoker. If you have a pet, we would have to make sure it got along with my cat and was ok'ed by the landlord. You like to be environmentally-friendly and are fun and easy to be around.
