Job Description Candidates should have experience with Geometric Optics and Calibration for Geometric calibration of the GOES-R instrument (MODIS experience acceptable). Will develop algorithms and analyze the performance of the GOES-R engineering and flight model units. Will develop algorithms and conduct geometric calibration for the GOES-R sensor engineering and flight model units, including sensor geometry impacts on pixel-by-pixel and band-to-band geolocation, pre-launch simulation, and error analyses. Required Skills 3 to 5 years experience in remote sensing instrumentation, principles of geometric optics, and sensor detector characteristics. Successful candidates should be proficient in current and emerging geometric data processing environments and languages, image processing and geospatial techniques, and operating systems (LINUX a plus). Fluency with C, FORTRAN and IDL is expected. Able to work independently. Education MS or BS in a Physical Science, Physics, Math, Computer Science, similar field, or equivalent.
