Schedule is as follows. Part time schedule for April – October is 37+ hours per week including weekend and evening hours. November – March is 24+ hours per week including weekend and evening hours. This part-time position has a flexible schedule that will include weekday, evenings, mandatory weekend hours and does not provide benefits such as vacation, sick leave, medical, dental or overtime pay. Primary Duties of the position are to coordinate, plan, design and lead programs. These programs may include environmental education, history, arts programs, guided walks, special events and more! In addition, this person will oversee a small staff of park naturalists and volunteers working on programs at Alapocas and Wilmington State Parks from April through October. This position reports directly to Alapocas Run and Wilmington State Parks Interpretive Manager. Additional important duties and responsibilities include staffing programs, assisting with staff training, making and overseeing staff schedules, working within a budget for appropriate programs supplies, materials and contractual agreements, creating, promoting and conducting group programs including environmental education, rock climbing, concert booking, interpretive programs in science, history, culture and art, and other tasks as assigned. Qualifications: Preferred candidate will have or be working on a college degree and/or have 3 years experience working as naturalist, historical interpreter or in a related field. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to work with the public, possess great people skills, is a self-starter who is energetic, positive, and creative. Preference is given to Candidates with the following: Experience in staff supervision, NAI Certified Interpretive Guide or teaching skills, knowledge of local historical, contemporary folk art, and science topics, computer skills and park related recreational experience. Candidate must have a valid driver’s license and be in good physical condition. The State of Delaware is AA/EOE.
