My goal is to build skills and confidence, and have fun doing it! I adapt my instruction to my student's learning style. Reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, math, study and organizational skills, and learning strategies. I specialize in grades four through nine. I have extensive experience with special education students. I do my best to schedule tutoring sessions around your student's/family's busy schedule. I have over thirty years of experience teaching and tutoring both in Alaska and on the East coast. I hold a Master's degree and three types of teaching certificates. I pay close attention to daily schoolwork and keep in ongoing contact with your student's classroom teacher(s). I will listen carefully and adapt my sessions to reflect the current needs of your student, providing "homework help" or utilizing my own materials for instruction to remediate areas of weakness.
