Position Overview:
The Engineering Department Project Managers primary focus will be the initiation, planning, implementation and management of programs for support of day-to-day department administration and product development activities within the Engineering Department. The goal of this position, and these programs, is to ensure that R&D and day-to-day projects are effectively and efficiently planned, managed and communicated with respect to costs, resource and time allocation, scheduling, quality control and regulatory and safety requirements. This position requires the exercise of independent judgment and discretion with regard to planning, budgeting, implementing and managing both the strategic and tactical elements of the engineering department administration and project management.
Position-specific Duties & Responsibilities:
Recommend, develop, implement and manage department and project management procedures and processes upon evaluation of current tools in place.
Work with the Technical Director to schedule, budget and plan department and personnel.
Ensure that all R&D projects and department programs are effectively managed to meet established objectives within accurately identified and authorized resource, cost and time allocation.
Create and monitor project budgets, resource planning, and adherence to deadlines for assigned projects.
Ensure that project progress is adequately monitored by management, through adequate, accurate and timely communication.
Work with Project Lead to ensure that adequate testing is scheduled and conducted in order to achieve all necessary legal, regulatory, quality and safety requirements are met.
Coordinate and communicate market entry requirements pertaining to schedule, international regulations, product standards and international retail distribution.
Serve as point person of day-to-day project management for both internal customers such as executive management, sales and marketing departments, or external customers such as distributors and agencies in international markets.
Provide project status, reporting and communication, including team, executive and cross team reporting.
Ensure tracking and analysis for effective use of resources and drive best practices.
Qualifications:
Educational Requirement:
BA or BS in Business, Engineering, Industrial Technology, related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Required Skills:
Experience with the following computer skills and specific programs including but not limited to Accounting, ERP and CRM software: Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project and Visio.
Experience planning, budgeting, implementing and managing both the strategic and tactical elements of technology department administration and project management.
Proficiency in SolidWorks, Microsoft Access and a plus.
Four years supervisory and project management experience.
Travel may be required (valid passport required).
Physical Requirements:
Ability to use computer mouse and keyboard.
Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
Frequent use of written and verbal communication skills.
Repetitive use of hands required.
Moving/lifting of 25-50 pounds on occasion.
Color vision required to review color designs and concepts and judge suitability.
Moderate exposure to noise.
Significant stooping, kneeling and/or crouching.
