Design Engineer, Electronics Engineering
PKG is seeking career-minded, motivated leaders to join our engineering team. EE applicants shall possess strong skills in systems design and project management.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
· Work within an NPI design group, typically paired with a mechanical design engineer to design and develop innovative user interface solutions for PKG's internal and external customers.
· Designs and modifies analog and digital hardware circuits for embedded control applications using schematic capture CAD software programs.
· Designs and modifies Printed Circuit Board (PCB) layouts using PCB layout CAD software programs.
· Designs, writes, and modifies firmware for embedded control applications using C and/or assembly computer languages.
Required Qualifications:
· B.S. in Software or Electronic Engineering.
· At least five (5) years of experience in the design and maintenance of embedded control hardware and firmware. Prefer experience and involvement in all facets and phases of product development from inception to production, and obsolescence.
· Experience in the design and manufacture of electronic assemblies and their application to consumer and/or OEM products.
· Experience and skills with the following components and systems:
o Micro-controllers (Microchip PIC and Cypress PSOC)
o Sensors and transducers (temperature, pressure, etc.)
o Keypads (membrane, discrete, matrices, resistive, etc.)
o Analog-to-digital conversion
o Displays (LED, LCD, VFD, 7-segment, alphanumeric,
graphical, etc.)
o Peripheral drivers (indicators, relays, backlighting, etc.)
o Power supplies and batteries
· Experience with the following communications protocols:
o USB, USB wireless
o RS232, RS484
o CAN
o I(2)C
o SPI
o Ethernet
· Experience with the following design tools, programmers, and debuggers:
o MPLAB
o PSOC Designer
o Microchip ICD2
o Cypress MiniProg
· Required software design experience: C, Assembly. Good to know: C++, C#, Java, VB, HTML, XML, JavaScript, Visual Studio, VHDL, Verilog, Databases.
· Experience with the following CAD and hardware analysis tools preferred:
o OrCAD
o AutoCAD
o SolidWorks
o Oscilloscopes, multi-meters, USB protocol analyzers, logic analyzers
· Familiarity with requirements of safety agencies (UL, CSA, CE, etc.).
