Perform field and laboratory testing of various construction materials including soil, aggregate, concrete, and asphalt Assist with project management duties as directed by the project manager in the areas of budget review, services coordination, staffing, client communication, and reporting Perform construction materials testing in accordance with the project specifications Calibrate and maintain field and laboratory equipment Maintain equipment and vehicle Use of various types of testing equipment Arrive at job site and report results in a timely, accurate manner Communicate daily with supervisors and co-workers MINIMUM SKILLS AND ABILITIES Oral and Written Communication Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, testing procedures, and project specifications. Ability to write reports and correspondence legibly, accurately and professionally. Employee must be able to communicate effectively with clients, contractor, supervisors and co-workers. Mathematical Skills Ability to calculate test results in accordance with test procedures. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply reasonable judgment and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee must regularly lift and/or move 75 pounds or more. Individual must work in adverse weather conditions, including extreme hot and cold temperatures. During peak construction season, long hours and weekends are to be expected.
