Successful candidates will develop power conversion and control prototypes/concepts in numerous component and system opportunities for automotive, and truck applications.
Identify, analyze, and validate technology applications in the areas of power conversion, motor drives, energy storage and alternative power generation systems and distribution; lead technology development projects and manage teams (local and remote resources) and external technology resources (Divisions and Universities); promote technologies leading to hybrid vehicles, renewable and distributed energy management, and power quality and stay on the leading edge of power semiconductor devices, power topologies, control system technologies, and motor technologies.
This position requires broad system and control understanding of electrical power systems (conventional & alternative electrical power generation, power conversion, power distribution, motor loads).
Success in this position will require the individual to be skilled at system integration of electrical power, protection, conversion and control technologies.
Take technologies from concepts to demonstrating product applications; general knowledge in control of utility interface converters, and power quality products and motor drives and a proven ability to investigate and develop new technologies for next generation products in emerging markets.
The work includes producing requirements, design, analyses, experimentation, test planning and execution.
Candidate should have demonstrated a strong analytical strength as well as a solid hardware background with hands-on skills to utilize specialized hardware development tools and equipment.
Technical expertise in:
•High power, high frequency switching devices and their drive circuits.
•High fidelity circuit and system level simulation capability using state of the art simulation tools.
•Strong understanding of the different electric motors and their drives topologies.
•Power magnetics design and analysis.
•Converter and control strategies
•Algorithm implementation and verification in embedded platforms
•AC/DC, DC/DC and DC/AC Power Converters (Low voltage/medium voltage, 10 - 500 kW)
•Utility interface of power electronics
•Interfacing converters with alternate energy sources and advanced storage
•Converter design and control for synchronous/asynchronous motors
Identify technologies and opportunities to expand the client’s businesses.
Master of Science Electrical Engineering (MSEE) preferred.
