PROJECT ENGINEER – PORTLAND, OR Nexant, Inc. is a leading provider of experience-based management and technology consulting services and technology solutions to electric utilities, energy producers, petroleum and chemical companies, and government agency energy end-users worldwide. We are currently seeking an experienced Project Engineer for our Portland, Oregon office. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical engineering support for energy efficiency programs. This candidate must be willing to train in our Salt Lake City, Utah office for 6 to 12 months prior to their permanent placement in Portland, OR. Duties and Responsibilities Provide engineering support for Nexant's Energy & Carbon Management practice which includes performing energy engineering services for utility and end-use clients and designing energy efficient programs for the utilities, and reviewing electric energy efficiency projects. This position will also require: • Interest in improving energy efficiency of commercial and industrial buildings including definition of energy efficiency measures and validation of effectiveness • Use of energy modeling tools, including eQuest, to evaluate buildings for energy efficiency improvements • Review building drawings and specifications to identify improvements in energy efficiency and to verify compliance to federal and state energy codes • Analyzing effectiveness of efficiency measures and quantify energy and cost savings associated with the measures • Estimate incremental costs associated with energy efficiency measures. • Understand and apply energy incentive program measures to projects to improve cost effectiveness • Develop and implement methods or tools that assist with the evaluation and selection of efficiency measures. • Regular contact with clients and program partners to continuously improve the effectiveness of energy efficiency programs. • Prepare and present reports to clients and program participants • Remain current on industry trends through self study and participation in trade groups. • Be creative and innovative in analyzing emerging and existing opportunities • Show initiative by engaging in new and complex projects • Be able to measure and verify energy efficiency measures • Ability to manage and complete multiple projects on time and in budget Experience and Education Requirements • Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering • At least 2 to 5 years building system design experience including HVAC, controls, and piping • LEED AP certification is desired • Experience with Department of Energy modeling tools such as eQuest DOE 2.2 is preferred • Familiarity with ASHRAE 90.1 2004 and 2007 and IECC 2006 Standards and Oregon Energy Code. • Client contact and relationship experience • Strong verbal and written communications skills, including report and presentation preparation • Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills Nexant is an equal opportunity employer and encourages workforce diversity.
