REFINERY CONSTRUCTION ESTIMATOR
POSITION SUMMARY:
Provide and /or coordinate full estimating services for all types of refining projects and contract formats.
FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
Incorporate safety and environmental responsibility into daily action.
Incorporate positive interpersonal skills when communicating or interacting with customer, subcontractor, vendor, craft and personnel.
Employ organizational skills that effectively minimize obstacles that negatively impact the project. When obstacles arise, employ sound decision making/problem solving skills to resolve the issue.
Review and incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc. into unit and man-hour figures.
Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
Prepare estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work.
Coordinate total estimating effort relevant to a particular bid or project.
Attend Pre Bid and Pre Job Meetings as required.
Provide technical support to personnel preparing discipline estimates for assigned bids.
Insure all working documents and data are maintained to back-up estimate figures.
Assist Estimating Manager on distribution of inquires and final evaluation of submitted bids as required.
Track awarded contracts as required - may include estimating/pricing extra work items, change orders, credit, procuring material etc.
Travel by air and car as needed to maintain position’s essential functions.
Participate in “lessons learned” meetings upon completion of a project.
Physical Activities:
Sit for long periods; view computer monitor for long periods of time; walk, verbally communicate, stand, climb, crawl, kneel; drive a vehicle.
POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge:
Four-year engineering degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience required. Thorough knowledge of estimating techniques, cost control systems and accounts required.
Ability to estimate all types of projects and contracts.
Experience:
Five to eight years’ estimating, cost control, and/or engineering experience (at least four years estimating experience) in construction field.
Equipment and Work Aids:
Knowledge of computer hardware and software, including: Microsoft Office (Windows, Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint); Scheduling (Microsoft Project, Primavera, Immpower, ViewPoint); internet use and innovation. Ability to learn other software, if required, with company-provided training.
License(s)/Certification(s) Required:
Valid state-issued driver’s license.
