The Blacksmith is looking to hire a bar assistant in early July 2009. This is not a seasonal position, it is permanent. The gist of the job is as follows:
Thursday day: squeeze juices, make syrups according to recipe, cut fruit, stock the bar and prepare everything for the weekend
Friday and Saturday are both long days, you will work 12 hours plus on both nights with very little break (don’t plan on going home until 4:30 on the morning). You will pour beer and wine, take orders, stock, get ice, prep the bar, clean the bar, and do anything possibly needed to make sure that we have a smooth night.
We need to find someone that is a good fit behind the bar who is smart, witty, and charming and brilliant with people, we need someone who is diligent, detail -oriented, and extraordinarily hard working. We need a person that sees what needs to get done and just does it. We need someone with a car who can run errands when needed. We need someone who can smile until the brutal end, who loves it when it is sickingly busy, who has an absurd short-term memory, and who can turn any frown upside down.
We run a very tight staff so if you need a lot of time off or have any trepidation about working every single weekend - this is not the job for you. (Obviously, everyone takes a weekend off every once in awhile, but we are talking like two times a year.)
Two years front of the house restaurant experience required (preferably fine dining), bartending experience not a must. Must have a food handler’s permit and a current OLCC card.
