GENERAL RESTAURANT MANAGER

PRIMARY RESPONSIBLITY:
Oversees the operations of a Souper Salad restaurant, ensuring quality standards, service standards, financial performance and people development are achieved while observing the highest legal and ethical standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Training, coaching and professional development of all restaurant managers and hourly employees.
Supervises restaurant operating procedures conforming to Souper Salad standards.
Constantly inspects the restaurant for cleanliness, food quality, service delivery and safety procedures.
Reviews daily reports, monthly financial statements and other standard reports with the general manager to identify and correct unfavorable areas.
Communicates frequently with assistant general managers and hourly employees, providing guidance, feedback and motivation.
Consistently searches for opportunities to increase restaurant sales.
Manages crew staffing levels, making adjustments as business fluctuates.
Manages controllable expenses to ensure profitability of restaurant.
Orders food and supplies in sufficient quantities to provide high food quality and efficient restaurant operations.
Interviews, hires and ensures quality orientation and training for crew members consistent with HR Policy.
Reviews performance, conducts counseling sessions, issues disciplinary warnings, and terminates the employment of unsatisfactory performers consistent with HR policy.
Devises and implements ways to attract new hourly employees and keep turnover to a minimum.
Identifies strong performers that have the potential to move into management or to the next level of management and prepares them for such promotions.
Performs minor repairs on restaurant equipment and makes adjustments as needed to save on service and repair costs.
Reviews and approves payroll and detailed timekeeping records before they are submitted for processing. Issues employee paychecks.
Holds periodic informational or safety meetings with restaurant employees to establish strong knowledge among the staff and build a strong sense of teamwork.
Ensures completion of the daily reports and other administrative paperwork.
Ensures that all cash-handling procedures, including bank deposits, are in place and followed consistently.
Assists with any station in the restaurant as needed.
Responds to guest complaints in a diplomatic and professional manner and promptly reports all guest and employee incidents/accidents.
Communicates and enforces Souper Salad HR policies and procedures consistently.
Complies with Sexual Harassment Policy, Confidentiality
Policies, Cash handling policy, Safety and Security and related HR Policies.
EDUCATION & SKILLS REQUIRED:
2+ year college degree preferred.
At least three years of restaurant management experience preferred.
Proficient in the following dimensions of management methods: HR Planning, Communication, Mentoring & Development, Quality of Operations, Leadership.
Upon completion of training, must be validated on all positions in restaurant.
Extensive interaction with the public and all levels of employees both within and outside of the organization.
Must be able to supervise 10-15 employees each shift.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time (duration of the shift).
Must be able to lift at least 40lbs. continuously.
Must have good manual dexterity.
ADDITIONAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to communicate clearly and persuasively in English and be able to read and comprehend materials printed in English and write detailed reports in English.
Must possess and maintain a valid Drivers license, necessary to make daily cash deposits, procure needed restaurant supplies and in case of emergencies, assist staff in obtaining minor medical attention.
Consistent with the level of responsibility of the position of General Manager must successfully complete a TRAK1 background check (Criminal, Motor Vehicle and Credit) prior to employment or promotion and must give notice of any changes to their criminal, motor vehicle or credit record, while employed as a condition of continued employment.
