Job Summary: This position stocks, displays, and/or sells products, merchandise, or goods in a retail setting. Additionally assists coffee shop barista. Must have 1 year experience as cashier in a fast paced environment. Responsibilities: Stocks shelves, counters, cart, or tables with merchandise. Sets up advertising displays or arranges merchandise to promote sales. Stamps, marks, or tags price on merchandise. Answer customer's questions concerning location, price, and use of merchandise. Keeps cart clean and free of dust. Completes days sales paperwork at end of shift. Counts and balances the cafe safe daily. May prepare inventory of stock. May order merchandise. Other related general retail duties may also be assigned. Requirements: Must pass a pre-employment drug test, a physical assessment and a criminal background check. Some recent positive training and/or experience that demonstrates a commitment to and a suitability for the retail sales field. The ability to work effectively with a minimum of supervision. An ability to quickly learn about the products being sold, cash register operation, site features and customer service expectations/standards. Dedication to understanding and exceeding customer expectations/needs. Recognition that service is a demonstrated attitude and a state of mind, not a task or step. Language skills sufficient to: 1. Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. 2. Write simple correspondence. 3. Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Math skills sufficient to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, or volume. Reasoning abilities sufficient to: 1. Apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one to two step instructions. 2. Deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Employees are regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear. Must be able to operate a cash register and make change. They may regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Must be able to push a full Retail Cart around hospital and maneuver in and out of the kitchen operation. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
