We own Little Six Mile Island on Lake Winnipesaukee NH. It, literally, is one of 6 Islands or so on the ENTIRE lake that is owned individually. In other words, most Islands have anywhere from 2 to 200 other homes on them whereas this Island is a private Island with only one cottage on it. The land value (in this economy) would be approx $1.5m and the cottage "maybe" $150k! I make mention of this because this is truly "typical" old tyme Winnipesaukee. People have asked countless times over the years why we have not taken the cottage down and replaced it with a Multi-Million dollar home due to the land. To us .... That would destroy what this Island is all about. Two all sand private beaches, huge U-Shaped docking system, regulation size Bocce Ball Court, walking trails, 360 degree Lake and Mtn views, spectacular sunsets and a whole lot more. I vacation around the world and, in my opinion, nothing compares to the Island. Perhaps if one were in the middle of the Carribean and came across a private island .... That would be Little Six Mile. Im guessing around 7-8 years ago we started the website www.LittleSixMileIsland.com and rented it out 4-5 weeks during the summer to selective tenants for $3k a week. Never raised it once. It was more about the quality of the tenant than the money obviously. Anyway ... As my folks are up there in their years .... We want to make the island available for them to come out to anytime they wish so we took if off the rental market with the exception of one family from Florida who comes up every year for 2 weeks. OK .. Now that I rambled on enough ... Let me tell you my thoughts. I have a 34 foot boat which I really am looking forward to taking out into the Atlantic for fishing with my son (he's now 27) for a week or two. I figured as the Island is sitting there -- IF I could find something very nice and appropriate for what we are looking for -- a swap for that time period could work. DATES I would like to stay on the Ocean - FLEXIBLE. DATES someone could use our Island - FLEXIBLE.
