$13.38 - $17.12 Hourly $1,070.40 - $1,369.60 Biweekly $2,319.20 - $2,967.47 Monthly $27,830.40 - $35,609.60 Annually

THE POSITION
Open to the general public and any current Municipal employee. If the person selected is not affiliated with the Anchorage Municipal Employees Association (AMEA), he or she must become a member in good standing within 31 days of beginning work.
DEPARTMENT: Anchorage Parks & Recreation
HOURS OF WORK: Typically Monday - Friday; between the hours of 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.; may vary.
LOCATION OF WORK: Spenard Recreation Center, 2020 W. 48th Avenue
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
This position provides primary clerical support to the Parks and Recreation Department, focused on but not exclusive to the Northwest Park District. Duties include schedule/resere park facilities, assist with program registrations, maintain section filing system and assigned inventories, answer public inquiries and provide information in person and on the phone, type letters, memos, schedule appointments, draft contracts and reports; input and retrieve data from computer and software programs, and may assist with overall program coordination.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / SUBSTITUTIONS / SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and one year experience in office clerical work. Skill to type at a net of 35 WPM.
NOTICE
If selected for hire, the appointment in this position will be conditional based upon a satisfactory Municipal Employment Office conducted Background Check. A Background Check encompasses criminal history, verifying education, and verifying dates of employment.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to operate office machines such as calculators, copiers, fax machines and multi-line telephones. Knowledge and experience in recreation desired. Prefer someone with the ability to multi-task and run special projects. Knowledge or experience on IBM personal computer desired. Knowledge of Windows, MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access) desired. Person must have had positions with heavy public interaction, cash management, cash register experience, and credit card transactions.
