Locates trouble and maintains electrical equipment and circuits in high voltage substations and/or hydroelectric generating stations. Installs smaller equipment and devices and assists with installation of larger equipment and more complicated devices required in such stations. Connects and services power transformers, distribution transformers, instrument transformers, oil circuit breakers, various types of switches, and the simpler metering, relaying and control schemes with little or no immediate supervision. Installs switchboards and devices and wires them from adequate drawings in a neat and workmanlike manner. Handles, tests and reconditions liquid dielectrics. Adjusts and repairs electrical equipment, makes splices and connections, installs conduit and buses, tests circuits, diagnoses trouble and performs related duties. Works on distribution voltage circuits and lines. Makes minor repairs to various types of meters and relays. Reads and works from the more simple station drawings, including schematic drawings. Operates high voltage switches and related devices in connection with this work and setting up safe clearances by orders of the dispatchers or similar persons.
