MONDAY 7/6/09 Application available at www.co.missoula.mt.us Complete job description available upon request to the Department of Human Resources DEFINITION: Carries out activities intended to increase awareness of transportation options in Missoula as part of the Missoula in Motion Program for the Office of Planning and Grants. REPRESENTATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK: (The following illustrate typical duties. They are not all inclusive or restrictive.) ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Develops and implements innovative and effective programs, promotions and marketing campaigns aimed at increasing people’s transportation options in Missoula. Develops, administers and markets transportation demand management programs at employer sites throughout Missoula. Participates in Missoula In Motion marketing efforts including preparing newsletter, written materials, advertising, and public outreach materials. Coordinates website development and outreach. Conducts program evaluations through surveys, focus groups and other means to solicit feedback on ways to improve Missoula’s transportation demand management outreach efforts. Researches transportation demand management programs in other communities and identifies components of their systems that could be utilized in Missoula. Participates with committees and organizations associated with transportation and transportation demand management issues. Maintains current knowledge of/provides information regarding transportation demand management issues. Promotes transportation options to targeted populations in Missoula. OTHER DUTIES: Performs related work as required or directed. PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS: The work requires ability to travel to meetings and visit various worksites in Missoula area. Work schedule may be flexible with meetings before and after normal business hours. MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Requires three years experience in field such as education, marketing, public outreach, community organizing, business development, behavioral science, project planning, grant writing, or fund raising. Requires excellent written and oral communications skills and demonstrated organizational skills. Experience desired researching and writing, organizing events and people, working with the public to change social behaviors, or working with transportation demand management strategies. Bachelor's degree desired in field grounded in analytical and communication skills such as Planning, Communication, Business Administration, Education, Journalism or any of the behavioral sciences.
