The first class City of St. Mary’s, Alaska is seeking a qualified person to fill the City Manager’s position. The person must be able to live in a rural Alaskan community and bring a spirit of adventure and understanding to this important position. The successful candidate will document experience in the public sector, preferably in a rural Alaskan municipal government, have excellent communication skills, a demonstrated willingness to acquire new skills, and adaptability to address a constantly changing economic and political climate. Emphasis will be placed on the applicant’s knowledge of municipal finances, economic development strategies and experience in working cooperatively and productively with tribal organizations and native corporations. Knowledge of the QuickBooks accounting program and municipal utilities will also be helpful. The Salary is DOE and includes Medical Insurance and paid leave. The City also provides a two bedroom furnished home which includes heating costs. The house is located near City Hall and has a panoramic view of the Andreafsky River.
