Reference Laboratory Supervisor: The Rhode Island Blood Center is currently seeking a Supervisor for its Reference Laboratory. This position reports to the Director of Special Services. Key Responsibilities: Responsible for the supervision and management of the Reference Laboratory staff, daily workload and compliance with applicable standards of the AABB and CLIA using advanced technical knowledge of immunohematology techniques and proper handling of biological materials and hazardous chemicals. Must keep up to date on current blood banking procedures and research to participate in educational programs such as lectures, seminars, and workshops. Educational Requirements: Must have a minimum of a BS in Medical Technology or a related field, plus be a certified Specialist in Blood Banking (SBB) with a current RI Clinical Laboratory Scientist License. Applicants who do not meet these criteria will not be considered. Experience/Qualifications: Must have at least four (4) years of blood banking experience at the bench level, or at least two (2) years of reference laboratory experience at RIBC, or at least two (2) years of supervisory experience in a hospital or blood center laboratory.
