June 12, 2009 Anchorage Convention & Visitors Bureau seeks a fulltime Public Relations Manager to join our dynamic Communications department. Public Relations Manager Key Responsibilities Develop and administer ACVB’s local, national and international media relations programs and campaigns. Must be knowledgeable about Anchorage and South-central Alaska, to easily develop and implement media familiarization tour itineraries, fact check stories, identify news angles and pitch story ideas to targeted media. Write annual reports, speeches, brochure copy, print and broadcast ad copy, newsletters, news releases, “canned” stories, fact sheets and backgrounders, e-communications materials, PowerPoint presentations, and Web and Web 2.0 content. Build and maintain relationships with local, regional, national and international journalists. Act as liaison for media, members and community regarding tourism and economic impact statistics. Maintain crisis communications plan. Weekend and evening work involved. Qualifications Completion of a four-year degree in Public Relations/Communications (or similar) and at least three years relevant work experience. Proven experience in journalistic-style and public relations writing and editing. Excellent oral communication skills with the ability to speak one-on-one or to groups. Advanced computer skills, including working knowledge of social media and Web 2.0 applications. Available to travel and ability to manage multiple projects.
