Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license (any of the 50 states) Neonatal Intravenous (IV) certification Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Life Support (PALS) Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP). Verifiable experience with neonates requiring ventilatory support, umbilical catheters, central lines and , competency in Neonatal specific IVP. Staffing and scheduling Twelve (12) hours shifts (0645-1930) or (1845-0730) Duties. Establish priorities of patient care based on essential patient needs and available unit resources. Demonstrate competency in medication and intravenous (IV) administration to include blood products and Total Parental Nutrition (TPN). Perform documentation duties on unit and in patient record which are timely, accurate, and concise. Demonstrate sound knowledge base and actions in the care and decision making for designated patient populations. Demonstrate effective and professional communication methods and skills using lines of authority appropriately. Formulate and use effective working relationships with all health care team members, patients, and significant others. Practice effective problem identification and resolution skills as a method of sound decision making. Provide care to normal and high-risk newborn patients Operate and monitor the performance of essential equipment used in the care of stable newborns, Possesses knowledge of normal and abnormal newborn physical and neurological development and application of same in delivery of nursing care to infants from birth until seven days of age. Administer oxygen therapy, monitor oxygen equipment, monitor patient and interpret and respond to data. Recover both stable, transitioning infants and patients of childbearing ages from general and regional anesthesia. Identify potential post-anesthetic patient problems; specifically, airway management, hemodynamic instability and pain control, and intervene appropriately. Have knowledge of and/or experience working with intrathecal, epidural, and general anesthesia. Operate cardio-respiratory monitors and interpret cardiac rhythms and respiratory patterns, determine implications and takes indicated interventions Administer prescribed medications to include IV push drugs and IV drips. Cares for patients on ventilators (high – Frequency included) with subsequent monitoring. Location: Nat. Naval Hosp. Bethesda, MD Compensation: Excellent Pay Principals only.
