I’m a 36 year old female who has lived in PDX for nearly 12 years. I’m a teacher and I spend a lot of time doing stuff outdoors – mostly biking, hiking, kayaking and x-c skiing. I’m big into recycling and thrifting, and I’m interested in local politics. I have a fair number of houseplants. I don’t have a lot of common space furniture (just a coffee table, in fact). I’m open to any number of housing arrangements: traditional shared housing, renting the upstairs of your house, renting a mother-in-law apartment, etc. I like living with both men and women; in fact, I think a mix is ideal. Since I bike a lot, I prefer to live relatively "close in". I’m a non-smoker and I’m allergic to some cats. I’m definitely a light sleeper, so my housemates would need to be relatively quiet people (or at least sensitive to my sleeping habits). I’m not a huge partier, though I’ll have people over a few times a year. I’m not the kind of person to have my boyfriend over every night. Let’s see… what else? I’m hoping that my monthly costs won’t exceed around $500-600 (including utilities). I’m an omnivore, but I don’t eat much meat and rarely if ever prepare it in the home. I clean up after myself and pitch in around the house, and I'm open to cooking together on occasion or having a beer on the porch. Of course, I do have my own life and value my down time/privacy, too. Oh! One important thing is that I'm seeking a house with a decent-sized basement (ideally) or garage in which to build my kayak.** I have one 14’ kayak already, and I have a kit for a 17’ wooden kayak. The project doesn’t take up as much space as it sounds – and the boat definitely won’t once it’s completed – but the kit is currently at a friend’s and I’m eager to have it close at hand for completion. :-) I also have a bicycle and will need space to store boxes.
