Location: ANCHORAGE, AK Shift: 6:30am - 3pm Sunday - Thursday Position Type: Full Time Description: The Pacific Northwest Largest supplier and processing facility of fresh fruits and vegetables is currently seeking a Quality Assurance Assistant. The position will report directly to the Q.A. Supervisor and will primarily be responsible for: Developing, implementing and enforcing food safety and security procedures for all of Charlie’s Produce operations. Developing, implementing and enforcing workplace safety programs to ensure Charlie’s Produce is meeting company goals and regulatory requirements. Monitoring, documenting and reporting on finished product specifications to measure compliance with company standards for growing, packing and cooling operations. Reviewing and analyzing all business functions in order to create reports and recommendations for sustainability initiatives. Requirements: The Quality Assurance Assistant will need to be able to work alone in many of the core functions and also work as a team member with the HACCP management team and production personnel. Strong skills in data collection, management and organization are required. The candidate will need to be proficient with computers and analytical operations. The ideal candidate will also have a general understanding of food safety (GAP, GMP, HAACP and SOPs), worker safety (state labor laws and OSHA), and produce/farming practices. Assist in the development, training, and implementation of process control procedures. Ensure that established process control procedures are followed throughout the plant. Maintain plant compliance to the HACCP and quality systems programs. Conduct regular plant food safety and security audits. Provide training to production workers on process control, product evaluation, HACCP, Allergens, GMPs, security, and other procedures. Maintain daily product evaluation programs (scoring, key quality indicators, shelf life). Provide support to Technical Services in conducting plant trials for new products/processes. Qualifications:: Experience working in a manufacturing environment. Demonstrated ability to organize, supervise and direct a diverse work force. Excellent organizational skills with a high degree of initiative, sense of urgency and flexibility. Versed in scientific method, continuous improvement methodologies, statistical process control. Knowledgeable in HACCP, GMPs, MSDS and other regulatory requirements. Computer skills including MS Word, Excel, Demonstrated ability to work independently with out daily supervision/monitoring.
