Sr Network Engineer Posting Job Description AOL is looking for a network engineer to join our small and highly talented team in building, monitoring, managing, and evolving its global WAN. Job Responsibilities: Will include all facets of WAN engineering, including capacity planning, peering establishment and management, traffic engineering, troubleshooting, PoP implementation activities, circuit acceptance, and interacting with customers. Successful candidates propose enhancements to the network architecture and lead deployment efforts. Skills Required: The successful candidate must have: * Proficiency and experience with link-state IGP (OSPF, ISIS) and BGP routing. * Good knowledge of MPLS services and experience designing and deploying MPLS-related services. Desired experience includes Layer 2 VPNs, Layer 3 VPNs, Traffic Engineering and the ability to design and clearly explain these principles in a customer forum. Knowledge of other technologies such as VPLS, VOIP, QOS, etc is a plus. * Knowledge and solid understanding of internet topology and routing. * Significant experience evaluating, configuring, managing and troubleshooting Cisco and Juniper high-end routers. * Solid working knowledge of Packet-over-SONET and Ethernet; experience with interfaces and circuits ranging from T1 to 10GE. * Good understanding of protocols such as BFD, LACP, VRRP, etc and knowledge of TCP/IP and related protocols such as FTP, TFTP, HTTP. * Good analytical approach to problem solving and usage of methodical & documented procedures to perform network enhancements and maintenances. * Ability to put together thorough engineering plans to propose new configurations, architectures, and services. * Knowledge of various software products (from Arbor, Packet Design, Cariden, etc) used in a networking environment for monitoring, simulation, data collection and reporting. * Familiarity with UNIX; programming with PERL, Python, etc is a plus. * Must work well in a team in a high-energy environment, possess good written and verbal communication skills, and good time-management abilities. Education/Equivalent Experience: Ideally candidate will have a degree in a technical field and 4+ years of directly related experience at an ISP or large network provider.
