(purchasing, manufacturing, MRP, purchasing certification) Electronics manufacturing services company is seeking a Sr. Buyer to support manufacturing of electronics, electromechanical equipment and interconnect systems. Job Description The position will obtain quotations, prepare and place purchase orders on commodities, materials, supplies, and equipment including special and unusual items. Work from requisitions or blueprints, checking requirements concerning quantity and time. Perform diversified duties requiring considerable judgment and decision making to analyze requirements and proposals from all sources of supply for agreement with specifications, delivery, and price. Negotiate and monitor standard and non standard purchase agreements in accordance with established limits (like cost of goods or services, quality and quantity specs, delivery schedules, etc.) Communicate with internal people to develop requirement specs including quality, quantity, and delivery Use knowledge of technical requirements and market conditions to negotiate best price while meeting all other specifications Obtain quotes or bids, often dealing with unusual agreements on cost, quality, and delivery Maintain detailed knowledge of current programs and products and those likely to be purchased Perform background check of financial and practical capabilities of possible suppliers Maintain tracking/reporting systems, monitor agreements and resolve problems with suppliers Administer purchase agreements dealing with confidential and proprietary information; must be knowledgeable of laws for handling such information Recommend opportunities to reduce total product cost and inventory investment through new sources, substitutions, improved systems or methods and other material management techniques Manage material deliveries and supplier performance to support production schedule. Required Skills Ability to prepare business correspondence, reports, and procedure manuals Ability to effectively present technical and budgetary or cost information, and respond to questions from groups of managers and external contractors Demonstrated problem solving ability involving many variables and limited standardization Leadership skills people management, meeting facilitation, presentation, and customer support Demonstrated ability to communicate with customers and project company image to attract business Negotiation and conflict management skills together with demonstrated experience troubleshooting and problem-solving Working knowledge at an intermediate level of computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access Excellent written and verbal skills to interact with people at all levels and functions inside and outside the company. Flexible with high energy, able to handle multiple tasks smoothly Required Experience Bachelor's degree in Business preferred.
