We’re currently looking for a Senior Environmental Planner for our Anchorage, Alaska office. Responsibilities: This is a planning position responsible for leading and supporting the preparation of environmental and community planning projects. The candidate would also be responsible for managing proposals and assisting with marketing efforts related to planning projects. The position provides opportunities for using candidate’s planning skills to plan for development, evaluate and mitigate impacts of development, and to learn new disciplines and skills through involvement with other facets of URS Alaska consulting services. The Planner will be involved with community, hazard mitigation, environmental, land use, and transportation planning projects, as well as NEPA analysis and documentation. This position is a part of the Planning Group and will report to the Planning Group Manager. This position will provide review and constructive feedback for junior staff members’ work. The candidate will possess basic marketing knowledge and will assist with marketing communication, including proposal development. Requirements: • MS in Environmental Science or Planning or related field. • Minimum 10 years, with 3 years of consulting experience in researching/writing environmental planning, community and regional plans, socioeconomic profiles, and/or regulatory documents such as EAs and EISs, Resource Management Plans, Land Use Plans, Community Comprehensive Plans, Master Plans, etc. • Experience in Alaska planning projects • Experience in public participation planning and implementation • Experience in project management, budgeting, and quality management • Experience in marketing, as well as writing and managing proposals, including cost proposals • Experience in conducting site visits and preparing follow-up reports • Strong analytical skills and writing abilities, as well as good organization and communication skills • Ability to mentor junior staff • Willingness to travel within rural Alaska and Pacific Northwest • Ability and interest to contribute occasionally to other environmental practice areas. • Must have MS Office experience • Interpersonal communication and strong technical writing skills are required for this position.
