Job Title: AM News/Weather Anchor Reports To: News Director Department: News Location: Boise, ID Position Type: Full-Time, Employee Job #2009-07 Essential Functions • Write, produce and deliver accurate, fair and objective news reports and newscasts. • Produce and deliver accurate and objective weather forecasts for AM format show. • Is responsible for accuracy of story information and timing of news programs. • Edits videotape, writes news scripts and presents on air. • Acts as co-producer of newscasts. Responsible for the look and accuracy of stories and newscasts. • Reports to the News Director. • Provides supervision to reporters, editors and photographers. • Works closely with news directors and production personnel. • Be available for public appearances as requested by News Director. • Other duties as assigned by management. Qualifications • 2+ years full-time professional News Anchor experience • A strong background in broadcast journalism through prior work experience or a journalism degree • Experience in on-air performance, weather forecasting, effective news writing ability, as well as knowledge of news gathering equipment and computers, and weather radar and other forecasting equipment. • An understanding of news production techniques, ability to develop engaging presentation, analyze news situations in order to provide accurate information, insight, and perspective • Strong organizational and journalism skills • Able to work in high-pressure situations effectively and calmly • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to identify problems and develop solutions • Must maintain a professional personal appearance • Ability to work under tight deadlines • Working knowledge of Windows PC, including familiarity in MS Word and Outlook preferred. Knowledge of non-linear editing is a plus. • Must work well under stress • Must be punctual • Must work well with others, maintaining a professional demeanor when interacting with employees • Ability to operate a motor vehicle legally in the State of Idaho with a clean driving record.
