Dear Future Roommate, Well folks, I am the eternal optimist, but there comes a time to be honest with yourself and do a reality check and admit that the economy right now is like Hurricane Katrina—unfortunately for us—still at a level 3 of 5 and before it strikes. So, while I have income and love living in Santa Monica in my $1,800 a month apartment down near the sea, it would be fiscally irresponsible for me to continue to pay these high rents alone with what is going to happen in the US in next year plus. Prior to this apartment, I had roommates both female and male for about a 10-year period in LA and elsewhere and it was great. You can say that I am very experienced with roommates. You can contact my last 2.5 year roommate who was sad to see me leave, as well as the Landlord of my current place who will tell you how I always made a timely rent payment to her. I also have references from professional women here in LA that know me very well for a long time that will attest to my strong character, honesty and safety. I can confidently say, without puffing, that I would be a strong and successful roommate for you. About me: I am a lawyer, 45 yrs old, from NYC, single, straight, no kids, youthful attitude, Jewish, non-religious, very open minded, non-smoker, healthy eater, athletic, no illegal drugs, no pets and I am extremely independent and busy. I also maintain places in San Francisco and New York City to stay when I am working there and sometimes I am away for a long time. But, to set reasonable expectations; presume that I am in LA most times. I am the type of person that people feel comfortable with right away and like to talk to. I keep clean at home and I am accustomed to taking my shoes off at the door to keep the floors clean. It really works! I like, but don’t need a lot of space—location is more important. I have my own comfortable furnishings and I need a safe place to leave them where they will be untouched. Most of my work in LA is in Santa Monica, Century City, Downtown LA and sometimes Orange County. So while I especially like Santa Monica, because the community is so easy to live and commute downtown easy, I am of course open to living anywhere between Santa Monica and Mid-Wilshire or South Bay, El Segundo, etc. (I like being near the airport too.) When I am not working, I am an avid cyclist for many, many years—I contribute a lot to charity by riding in 100 mile+ rides all over California and Arizona. And I sometimes race in my age class. About you and the place: Female or Male, any age up to 50, non-smoker, and you would never allow smoking or drug use in the residence, and no cats or dogs. My own bathroom shared with nobody and off-street parking for my nice car (Does not need to be covered) unless on your street there is no alternate side requirements. You are safe to live with, and have an independent and busy life and prefer an independent and busy roommate. Kids okay! (I like kids). I need to move in by the weekend of Feb 28/March 1st. Thanks for your consideration. My Pics are recent. Happy to answer any questions. Hope that you can help. california
